Savings and Shares

watch your money grow in ousr savings accounts ...

When you decide to save with Meath Street Credit Union you can be sure that it's a sound decision. When each member saves on a regular basis a fund builds up. It is from this fund that loans are provided to members. Each €1 you save is equal to 1 share.

The more savings you have, the more shares you have in your Credit Union. Simply call into our office to lodge money to your savings (even a small amount) and you will notice how quickly your savings and shares build up. At the end of the financial year you are entitled to a dividend based upon the number of shares you have. Details of dividends are provided after every AGM.

Member's savings in Meath Street Credit Union are called a common fund. It is this fund that is used to provide loans to the members.

We like to encourage members to avoid withdrawing from their savings if possible. You should consider a loan instead as this keeps your savings intact and ensures you receive the best dividend possible. If you are repaying a loan always try to lodge at least €1 to your savings each week. Members are entitled to apply for a loan after saving for at least 13 weeks from the time they joined the Credit Union.

The minimum share withdrawal amount is €10.00.
The minimum number of shares must be maintained at €10.00.
